Young, Florence Ethel Mills (Mrs.)
(1875-1954) Prolific novelist. Young's plots were generally set in the context of contemporary South African events. For example, her novel entitled A Dangerous Quest (1904) is an adventure story set during the Anglo-Boer War, while her novel entitled The Great Unrest (1915) is set amongst the strikes and labour unrest on the Witwatersrand gold mines in 1913 and 1914. Young also wrote The bywoner (1916), Imprudence (1920), The Pace of the Ox (1921), The Inheritance (1928) and Four Seasons (1929) and many other novels. She was born in South Africa, but later settled in England.
